Committees, Special Interest Groups, Partnerships and Resources

By clicking on the headings to the right you will find information on the various CSRT Committees and Special Interest Groups.A link at the bottom of this page will take you to a section with information on the various partners of the CSRT and other resource information.

What is a Committee?
A committee is a group of CSRT members that have been appointed by the CSRT Board of Directors to address an issue that the CSRT Board of Directors has identified. The purpose of each committee is laid out in a “Terms of Reference” document. This document will give the purpose of the committee and will also give some direction as to how the committee should function.

Committees generally have a very specific mandate, and may even have a specific life span.Standing Committees may be struck to address an issue that is ongoing, such as the ongoing efforts of the CSRT Advocacy Committee.Ad Hoc Committees may be created or assembled to address issues that are only periodic. The CSRT Complaints and Judicial Committees are created, as needed, to address a specific complaint, and are dissolved, as the issue is resolved.

What is a Special Interest Group?
A Special Interest Group refers to a group of CSRT members that have a common interest in a particular segment of the profession of respiratory therapy. The CSRT supports these groups by giving them a section of the website where they can post articles of interest, and other content. These groups are also given an opportunity to use an online discussion forum, provide input into acquiring speakers and topics for the annual forum, as well as space for publishing articles in the CJRT.

What is a Partner?
The CSRT’s Partners are organizations that may have a different mandate, but share a common interest with the all or part of the mandate of the CSRT.These are organizations that have a formally acknowledged partnership.
