2010 CSRT Awards Program
CSRT Student Achievement Awards – Gold – Silver - Bronze
These awards recognize CSRT student members with the highest mark on the CBRC examination. To be eligible, students have to be a CSRT student member, be a graduate for a Canadian accredited program, and have made their first successful attempt at the Canadian exam within 18 months of graduation.

CSRT/CAREstream Student Excellence Award
The CSRT is proud to partner with CAREstream Medical Ltd., to provide recognition to students in the 20 educational programs across Canada. The goal of this award is to recognize students in each respiratory therapy program (accredited through the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education) who have successfully completed the certification exam and have made a substantial achievement as a student.

Colya Kaminiarz Professional Achievement and Education Award
This award is designed to honour Colya Kaminiarz for the significant contributions he made to the profession and the professional association. This award will be conferred annually to a member of the CSRT who is recognized for his/her leadership skills and who has made a significant contribution to professional practice and/or in the field of education at the national level.

Robert Merry Lecturer
This award was established to recognize the important contributions of Robert Merry, one of the pioneers of the RT profession. The Robert Merry Lecturer will be the focal point of the plenary program at each annual CSRT Education Conference and Trade Show. The recipient is selected by the membership and is honoured with this award because of the recipients’ outstanding contribution and experience. The recipient will deliver his/her keynote lecture at next conference - Quebec City, May 2011.

President’s Award
This award
provides the current CSRT President with a vehicle to recognize an individual or an organization that has provided support to the President in his/her role or has made a significant contribution to the Society during his/her term of office. The CSRT President’s award is presented during the President’s banquet.

Distinguished Honorary Awards
Distinguished Life Membership
The conferral of Life Membership represents the highest form of recognition by one’s peers, and is accordingly classified under the CSRT Distinguished Life Membership category. A Distinguished Life Memberships is awarded as follows:
A person who is a CSRT Registered Member and has rendered distinguished services to the society may be honoured by the society through recommendation by the Board of Directors, to this classification of distinguished membership. A registered member holding office in the association shall not be eligible for nomination to this class of distinguished membership while in office. The number of Distinguished Life Members at any given time shall not exceed fifteen. Vacancies in the number of Distinguished Life Members may be filled at the rate of one (1) per year.
The Distinguished Life Member certificate is conferred to the individual during the President’s Banquet at the Annual General Conference.
Nomination and selection
Honorary Life Membership may be nominated at the discretion of the Board of Directors. A call for nominations may be sent from the CSRT Office at the request of the Board of Directors.
Honorary Life Membership
Honorary Life Membership is conferred upon individuals who have provided meritorious service to the CSRT. An Honorary Life Membership is awarded as follows:
A person who might not otherwise be eligible for membership in the CSRT, or who is a commercial representative, and who has rendered distinguished service to the profession of respiratory therapy, may be honoured by the society through recommendation by the Board of Directors, to this classification of distinguished membership.
The Honorary Life Member certificate is presented to the individual during the President’s Banquet at the Annual Education Conference.
Nomination and selection
Honorary Life Membership may be nominated at the discretion of the Board of Directors. A call for nominations may be sent from the CSRT Office at the request of the Board of Directors. There is no restriction on the number of Honorary Life Members at any one time.
