CSRT Fellowship Criteria (Revised)
Purpose of fellowship
To recognize CSRT registered members who have demonstrated substantial leadership and have made consistent contributions to the advancement of clinical practice, education or science in respiratory therapy.
Criteria
The applicant must:
- Demonstrate leadership, involvement and benefits to the clinical practice, education, or science in respiratory therapy during the previous year.
- Be committed to lifelong learning
- Maintain involvement in professional development activities for a minimum of 25 hours per year.
- Continue to be a registered member in good standing with the Society.
New Implementation process
- Applications will be submitted to the CSRT, to include application form, curriculum vitae, and the signature of three (3) referees to acknowledge leadership and contributions to clinical practice, education, or science in respiratory therapy.
- Applications will be reviewed and endorsed by the CSRT Board of Directors.
- An on-line system has been developed to assist in the tracking of professional development hours.
- Accepted Fellows will receive a suitable certificate.
- Names of CSRT Fellows will be published in the CJRT journal, and on the CSRT web site, annually.

CSRT Credit System for Continuing Education and Professional Development Program
- Continuing education / professional development activities (1 hour = 1 credit)
- Attend lecture

- Workplace activities (1 hour = 1 credit)
- Employer Continuing Education Events
- Grand Rounds/CME
- In-Service presentations
- Development/Revision of Policies and Procedures
- Professional volunteer activities (4 hours = 1 credit)
- Volunteer on CSRT committees and workgroups
- Volunteer at provincial association or regulatory body
- Volunteer at CBRC exam activities
- Volunteer at CoARTE activities
- Promotion of the profession
- Other RT related committee involvement
- Reflective activities (1 hour = 1 credit)
- Reading professional journals and directed reading articles
- Completing profession-related surveys
- Advanced continuing education /professional development activities (1 hour = 2 credits)
- Involvement in clinical or basic science research
- Presentation at provincial or national conference
- Publication of article in peer-reviewed journal
- Completing a university and/or college course in a health care topic
- Preceptorship (8 hours = 1 credit)
- Preceptorship hours are defined as contact hours spent in the clinical setting with students, and/or other health disciplines.
