CSRT Membership Renewals!

Sleep Apnea Consumer Session - May 12, 2010, 6PM
The public is invited to attend an information session on the causes and solutions of sleep apnea, taking place at the Delta St. John’s Hotel. Presenter Wanda Dollard, RRT will discuss symptoms and consequences of sleep apnea, as well as diagnosis and treatment. Everyone is invited to attend.

Run for Research – May 16, 2010 7:30 AM

CSRT / CAREstream Student Excellence Award

The CSRT is proud to partner with CAREstream Medical Ltd., to provide recognition to students in the 20 educational programs across Canada. The goal of this award is to recognize students in each respiratory therapy program (accredited through the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education) who have successfully completed the certification exam and have made a substantial achievement as a student. The winners receive award at the President’s Banquet during the CSRT annual Education Conference.

The Award consists of:  

  • Cash prize in the amount of $500
  • A certificate of excellence
  • CSRT membership dues for one year (April to March)
  • Complimentary registration to conference and ticket to the President’s banquet


CAREstream Medical Ltd., is committed to supporting excellence in respiratory care and their support and sponsorship of this award helps to highlight the achievements students who will become leaders in advancing the profession in the future.  Selection of winners is made in consultation with each education program.

Promoting Resilience in the Healthcare Workforce

A new website offers an innovative avenue to promote the health and resilience of health providers -  eWorkplaceHealth delivers honest, practical advice and support from Drs. Martin Shain and Emma Stodel - two Canadian experts on workplace health. Health providers from all disciplines can discuss topics concerning their professional and personal life anonymously and at no charge.

The Quality Worklife-Quality Healthcare Collaborative (www.qwqhc.ca) is a coalition of 12 national health organizations that are working to create vibrant, healthy healthcare workplaces, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care.

H1N1 Survey Results

Over 500 people participated in the November 2009 H1N1 survey - RESPIRATORY THERAPISTS AND H1N1 INFULENZA A PANDEMIC.  The CSRT gathered relevant data on pandemic planning from RTs.  In consultation with professional practice experts, the CSRT developed an short eleven-question survey.
