CoARTE update
The Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education (CoARTE) completed the accreditation visit to Rosemont College in February. It was the program’s first accreditation by the council. There will be an accreditation review held at Vanier College (second accreditation by CoARTE) in April, 2011. We are grateful to the program reviewers who represent CoARTE on the accreditation visits. Thank you to the participants at the Rosemont College visit - Dianne Levesque (NB), Caroline Gagnon (QC), Michèle Tremblay (QC), Jackie Bernard (ON); and for the Vanier College visit - Carolyn McCoy (NB), Michael Bachynsky (MB), Sharon Peters (NL), Jocelyn Forseille (AB).
Volunteer Opportunities
CoARTE is recruiting physicians and senior administrators who are qualified and interested in serving on the CoARTE council. These dedicated professionals should have an interest in the profession of respiratory therapy and an involvement in the educational environment. The mandate is for two years, renewable once. The time commitment includes participation in one face-to-face meeting each spring (usually held in Ottawa or Toronto); approximately four teleconferences a year and regular communication by email. Individuals will also be required to review various accreditation documents throughout the year. If you are aware of a physician who routinely works with respiratory therapists and understands the requirements of the profession, and/or a senior administrator (dean, associate dean, chair, vice-chair, etc.), involved in allied health programs, who might be interested in supporting the Council in this volunteer activity, please contact the Accreditation Manager, Milena Cotinghi, at mcotinghi@csrt.com

Individuals wishing to write the national certification exam in July 2011, must apply by April 30, 2011. Candidate information and applications forms can be found at http://www.cbrc.ca/
