CoARTE Update
At the end of April, the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education held its annual meeting. An important component of this meeting was to discuss the programs’ annual reports, which confirmed the excellence of the RT education across Canada and the commitment of the educators.
Jo-Ann Aubut (Algonquin College, Ottawa, ON), who was the Senior Administrator representative on CoARTE between 2009 and 2011, ended her mandate and was unable to renew. Her contribution to the accreditation process has been invaluable. We wish her good luck in all her future endeavors! The new Council members will be announced as soon as they are ratified by the CSRT Board of Directors.
Discussions at the CoARTE annual meeting were very interesting, bringing the accreditation process to a new stage and acknowledging more new programs at institutions around the country. Promising paths of collaboration with other organizations representing the respiratory therapy profession were opened. One important step will be the meeting between CoARTE and the National Alliance of Respiratory Therapy Regulatory Bodies on June 8, in Quebec City.
