Call for Nominations for CSRT Board - Deadline November 4, 2011

The CSRT is accepting applications from members for volunteer positions as Directors on the Board of Directors. The new Board structure, approved at the June AGM, will include regional representation and representation from each area of practice. The Robert Merry Lecturer Award
This award was established to recognize the significant contributions made by an individual to the profession or the professional association.

The Colya Kaminiarz Professional Achievement and Education Award
This award was established to recognize an individual who has displayed outstanding leadership skills and has made a significant contribution to professional practice and/or in the field of education at the national level. Submissions Accepted to Canadian Journal of Respiratory Therapy

The CJRT accepts submission of original articles, papers, commentaries, case studies, literature reviews, letters to the editor and directed reading papers. All manuscripts are peer-reviewed. First-time authors are encouraged to submit and get started on their publishing career. A special edition of the CJRT will be presented next summer with a focus on access to respiratory therapy in difficult patient populations or unique settings and circumstances. We welcome international manuscripts and encourage papers reporting on distinctive projects.

10th Canadian Network for Respiratory Care Conference

The National Respiratory Care and Education Conference – ASED 10, will be held at the Hilton Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, Quebec on November 10-12, 2011. The theme of the conference is “Celebrating Our Past: Embracing Our Future”. Details at www.cnrchome.net.

National Study on the Quality of Stroke Care in Canada

A major national Canadian study on the quality of stroke care released by the Canadian Stroke Network finds that there is significant work to be done to improve prevention, treatment and recovery from stroke. For details check: www.canadianstrokenetwork.ca.

2011 Simulation Summit – November 3-5, 2011

The Royal College, in conjunction with McGill University and the Arnold and Blema Steinberg Medical Simulation Centre will hold the 2011 Simulation Summit, November 3-4, 2011 at the Montreal Marriott Château Champlain. This 2-1/2 day conference explores the theme Interprofessional Teams and is directed to simulation educators and researchers. The program promotes scholarly based research of simulation standards in real-world applications. Details at: http://www.royalcollege.ca/simulation.

The CSRT Education Conference will take place at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in beautiful Vancouver, BC.  The CSRT has arranged for a limited number of discounted rooms at the Westin. Reservations can be made through the CSRT website – under Events.
