CSRT Position Statement on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity
February 2, 2021
Salary Scale Analysis
August 25, 2021
Dear CSRT members,
No one other than you better understands that the impacts of this pandemic are being felt by individuals and communities near and far. While respiratory therapists across Canada continue to make extraordinary efforts to provide care, our colleagues in other countries are also facing extreme challenges.
The CSRT, through its international partnerships, has remained in close connection with the global respiratory care community throughout the pandemic. Our organizations share a common aim to ensure optimal care for all through partnership and collaboration. In response to the unmatched magnitude of the toll of the pandemic in India, the CSRT is part of a humanitarian response for India in collaboration with the Indian Association for Respiratory Care (IARC) and the International Council for Respiratory Care (ICRC). This response will include establishing and international network of virtual supports for respiratory therapists in India, and sharing educational and practice resources with clinicians in India.
The CSRT is also liaising with the Government of Canada to support the rapid deployment of critical medical supplies to India, in particular with respect to urgently needed ventilators.
Volunteers are needed!
The CSRT is seeking Canadian RTs who may be willing to volunteer as virtual consultants for RTs in India as they manage COVID-19 patients, to help them consider therapeutic options that may be available but not yet considered by the clinical team.
To volunteer and/or to receive further information as it becomes available, please indicate your interest via email HERE
We understand the enormous pressure so many of you are facing each day, we ask that those who are able consider this opportunity to support the people of India. Thank you all for the remarkable work you do, and for the sacrifices you make each day to care for others.
Sincerely,
Dr. Andrew West, CEO
