Distinguished Honorary Awards
Distinguished Life Membership
The conferral of Life Membership represents the highest form of recognition by one’s peers, and is accordingly classified under the CSRT Distinguished Life Membership category. A Distinguished Life Memberships is awarded as follows:
A person who is a CSRT Registered Member and has rendered distinguished services to the society may be honoured by the society through recommendation by the Board of Directors, to this classification of distinguished membership. A registered member holding office in the association shall not be eligible for nomination to this class of distinguished membership while in office. The number of Distinguished Life Members at any given time shall not exceed fifteen. Vacancies in the number of Distinguished Life Members may be filled at the rate of one (1) per year.
The Distinguished Life Member certificate is conferred to the individual during the President’s Banquet at the Annual General Conference.
Nomination and selection
Distinguished Life Membership may be nominated at the discretion of the Board of Directors. A call for nominations may be sent from the CSRT Office at the request of the Board of Directors.

Honorary Life Membership
Honorary Life Membership is conferred upon individuals who have provided meritorious service to the CSRT. An Honorary Life Membership is awarded as follows:
A person who might not otherwise be eligible for membership in the CSRT, or who is a commercial representative, and who has rendered distinguished service to the profession of respiratory therapy, may be honoured by the society through recommendation by the Board of Directors, to this classification of distinguished membership.
The Honorary Life Member certificate is presented to the individual during the President’s Banquet at the Annual Education Conference.
Nomination and selection
Honorary Life Membership may be nominated at the discretion of the Board of Directors. A call for nominations may be sent from the CSRT Office at the request of the Board of Directors. There is no restriction on the number of Honorary Life Members at any one time.

CSRT / CBRC Exam Achievement Awards - Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals
Gold Medal – In recognition of highest score on the CBRC exam
The Gold Medal is sponsored by Respiratory Therapists Without Borders
Silver Medal – In recognition of second highest score on the CBRC exam
Bronze Medal – In recognition of 3rd highest score on the CBRC exam
This award allows the current CSRT President to highlight the professional or personal achievements of an individual or organization. The CSRT President's Award is presented during the Presidents' Banquet.
THE PRESIDENT'S AWARD IS SPONSORED BY TRUDELL MEDICAL
Robert Merry Excellence in Education Award
This award was created to honour Robert Merry who made significant contributions in the field of education in respiratory therapy. This award will be conferred annually at the President’s banquet during the Annual Education Conference. The CSRT welcomes nomination of individuals who are members in good standing of the CSRT and have made significant contributions to RT education or have influenced others toward higher levels of achievement in RT education. The Board of Directors will select the recipient of the award at its Fall meeting. The recipient receives travel, accomodation and a complimentary registration to the conference.
CSRT Award for Student Excellence
The award will be presented during the graduation ceremony at each education program to a student, selected by the faculty, for achievements while in the program. The recipient of the CSRT Award for Student Excellence will receive a certificate from the CSRT, a CSRT pin and a one year CSRT membership. Once the student has shown eligibility for a provincial license, the membership status will be changed to registered member. Educators must submit the application form at least 3 weeks prior to the graduation ceremony.
VitalAire Respiratory Homecare Award
This award recognizes a respiratory therapist who has made significant contributions in the field of respiratory home care services or who has influenced others toward higher levels of achievement in the field of respiratory home care services. This award includes recognition of an individual working in any aspect of respiratory care in the home. The individual must be currently working in the field of respiratory home care services. The CSRT Homecare RT Network will be asked to provide its recommendations for the selection of the award recipient to the Board of Directors. The award winner will receive the award at the President’s banquet. The recipient receives travel, accommodation and a complimentary registration to the conference.
