National CCAA Exam
Successful completion of the national CSRT Anesthesia Assistance Examination (the exam) is one of the requirements for obtaining the CCAA credential. By possessing this credential, CCAAs demonstrate that they meet a nationally accepted professional standard and adhere to nationally accepted quality assurance processes.
Who is eligible to write the National CCAA Exam?
Individuals who have graduated from a CSRT-accredited anesthesia assistance education program are automatically eligible to challenge the exam, providing their first attempt is made within 18 months of graduation (i.e. the graduation date will be that displayed on the candidate’s diploma). This eligibility will be verified by the CSRT when an individual applies to challenge the exam.
Individuals who graduated from a CSRT-accredited anesthesia assistance education program who were unsuccessful on their first attempt will have their eligibility for subsequent exam attempts verified by the CSRT.
Candidates are permitted up to three attempts to challenge the exam. Successful completion of the exam (i.e., the candidate passes the exam) must occur within three years of graduation* from a CSRT-accredited program.
Individuals who do not meet these traditional eligibility criteria may contact the CSRT ([email protected]).
The next iteration of the CSRT Anesthesia Assistance Exam will be on July 16, 2025.
The application period for this exam is now closed.
